Dengue in Guayama: the second-highest rate on the island
According to the Puerto Rico Department of Health's arboviral surveillance report for week 37 of 2026 (published September 23), Guayama had a dengue incidence of 238.47 cases per 100,000 residents in weeks 1–37, the second-highest in Puerto Rico.

Dr. Diana Nieves Castro, MD, a primary care physician licensed in Puerto Rico with several years of emergency-department experience, evaluates, diagnoses and treats, in English or Spanish. If needed, she gives you a lab order for a lab near you. If appropriate, the doctor prescribes and we send your prescription to your pharmacy in Guayama or the one in Cayey. We do not prescribe controlled substances.

Beaches, population and neighboring towns
Guayama beaches are in the "Southeast PR" zone of the National Weather Service San Juan daily surf zone forecast, with Arroyo, Maunabo, Patillas and Yabucoa. Check the rip current risk before you go in.
