Virtual doctor visit cost in Puerto Rico: three visit types

Each visit type has a fixed price, the same for every age, and you pay only for the visit you request. If you're not sure which to choose, pick the doctor visit: the doctor will assess your situation and tell you if it turns out to be something simpler.

For a new problem, virtual urgent care (non-emergencies), primary care, children of all ages, chronic care, birth control, STIs, skin and acne, and visitors. Depending on what the doctor considers appropriate for you, it includes, with no extra charge:

A shorter visit for two things:

For school, university or job forms, and the lab order for the certificado de salud. The doctor completes a form only when the video evaluation supports it. It does not cover forms that need a vision exam. See school and work medical forms.

If a follow-up (US$49) or forms (US$35) visit turns out to need a full doctor visit, for example because a new problem comes up, the doctor explains why and, with your consent, you pay only the difference up to US$79. We never charge you more without asking first.

The lab bills for lab tests, the pharmacy for medications, and whoever sees you in person for an in-person visit. We will not charge you anything more for the visit.

There is no membership, subscription or monthly fee: you pay only for the visit you request.

We do not bill insurance. On request we give you an itemized receipt (superbill) so you can file a claim with your plan yourself; whether it pays anything back depends on your plan. If your HSA or FSA card works like a debit card, you can usually use it on the payment page; whether the expense is eligible is up to your plan. You pay when you request the visit, on Stripe's secure payment page, by credit or debit card (and Apple Pay, Google Pay or Link if they appear on that page). Payments are received by The Health Initiative, the nonprofit that runs the service. The payment page does not ask for any health information.

We refund you in full if the visit can't take place, for example if we can't confirm you are in Puerto Rico, if a patient under 21 doesn't have a parent or legal guardian present, or if no doctor is available. If you cancel before the visit, you also get a full refund. Details in the cancellation and refund policy.
